All Party City locations nationwide will soon shut down.

The lone Party City in northern Oregon — a store in Beaverton’s Cascade Plaza — will soon shutter its doors, along with its other stores throughout the nation, CNN reported Friday, Dec. 20.

The Beaverton store is located at 8905 S.W. Cascade Ave. in the Cascade Plaza complex. Party City has another Portland metro location in Vancouver, Washington, while the only other location in Oregon is in Medford.

Party City CEO Barry Litwin told corporate employees about the closures Friday morning, citing financial challenges as the reason for the closures.

“It’s really important for you to know that we’ve done everything possible that we could to try to avoid this outcome,” the 24-hour all-news channel reported Litwin as saying. “Unfortunately, it’s necessary to commence a winddown process immediately.”

CNN further reported that “some of Party City’s store employees received letters that the company would close down stores on February 28, at which point store staff would be terminated.”

An employee who answered the phone at the Beaverton store Friday confirmed that the last day for the store would be Feb. 28.

Founded in New Jersey in 1986 by Steve Mandell, the company ended up with more than 850 stores worldwide under several different store names including the Halloween City, Toy City, Factory Card and Party Outlet brands.
