November 23, 1946 – February 14, 2025 – Suzanne Wuepper Sanford, 78, passed away on February 14, 2025 at her home in Surprise, Arizona. She was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and previously resided in Lake Oswego and then Charbonneau, Oregon.
Suzanne was highly respected as a financial planner with New York Life for over 35 years where she provided valuable advice for her clients. She developed and taught “Financial Fitness for Women” classes for many years at Portland Community College and relished helping women become financially independent. In 2000 she qualified as a Life Member of Million Dollar Round Table, a prestigious organization recognizing insurance and financial services professionals that demonstrate exceptional professional knowledge and outstanding client service.
Suzanne enjoyed cooking and spending time together with family and friends. In 1975 she authored and published “Cookie Swap” and then in 1977 and 1978 co-authored and published “Soup Samplers” and “Start with Hors D’oeuvres”.
In her spare time Suzanne enjoyed golfing and travelling. Together with her husband Jim she visited many countries, including China, Russia, Australia, Puerto Rico and numerous countries in Europe.
Suzanne is survived by her husband of almost 28 years, James Sanford; her three children, Kevin, Kyle (Sarah) and Kimberly (Lee Rudick); and six grandchildren, Jackson, Kate, Taylor, Reed, Riley and Ryder. She was predeceased by her parents Margaret and Douglas Stellner.
After suffering a significant stroke the year prior to her death Suzanne received excellent care at the Banner Del E. Webb Hospital and related rehabilitation center in Sun City, Arizona. Upon returning home she was lovingly cared for by her husband Jim on a daily basis until the time of her passing.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on April 6, 2025 at Charbonneau Golf Club. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested in Suzanne’s memory to the Humane Society.
