Tigard Tesla dealership struck by overnight gunfire, damaging vehicles and building

- A bullet hole was found in a Tesla electric car on the morning of Thursday, March 6.
Tigard Police detectives are investigating damage caused to the Tigard Tesla dealership after overnight gunfire damaged three cars, shattered windows and damaged other property at the electric vehicle car lot.

Police reported that the Southwest Cascade Avenue dealership was struck by at least seven bullets early morning Thursday, March 6.
One bullet went through an office wall and into a computer monitor.
“Based on surveillance video in the area, investigators believe the suspect or suspects began firing around 1:46 a.m., however a description for the person or people responsible is not yet available. Crime scene technicians responded to the scene, and investigators are working to gather any additional physical and/or video evidence that may be available,” Tigard police said in a statement. “While the motivation for this has not been confirmed, we are aware that other Tesla dealerships have been targeted across Oregon and the nation for political reasons.”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is the head of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency, an office responsible for cutting the jobs of thousands of federal employee jobs, according to a variety of media reports.
Tigard police are working with federal agencies including the FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as they investigate the case.
An ATF explosives detection K-9 and its handler were on site at the electric car dealership Thursday, examining shell casings, police reported.
