August 20, 1943 to February 22, 2025 – Thomas “Scott” Duncan, passed away at his home in Gresham on February 22, 2025.
Born on August 20, 1943, he was a graduate of Jefferson High School, where he met his future wife, Kathleen Bernard. After high school, he started work at the US Postal Service putting in 34 years before his retirement.
In 1964, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving on the nuclear submarine USS Sargo. After completing six years of active duty, he transitioned to the reserves, where he would serve for an additional 29.5 years, eventually achieving the rank of Senior Chief, he was the only person to be promoted to that rank in the nation.
Scott and Kathleen were married on July 22, 1967, in Honolulu at Pearl Harbor, Sub Base Chapel. Their union of 57 years was blessed with two daughters. Their first daughter, Colleen, was born in 1968 in Honolulu, followed by Sarah in 1971 in Portland, Oregon. Sadly, Sarah passed away in 2020.
Scott’s funeral will be March 13th at 10:30 at St. Henry Church in Gresham with internment at Willamette Cemetery at 2pm. Please be there by 1:45pm if you will attend.
