Abby's Closet prom dress giveaway, the two-day, annual event, is returning on April 5 and 6 at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 N.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Prom is the one night of high school so many anticipate for weeks, months or years leading up to the event.

Is my dress or suit perfect? Do I have all my accessories picked out? How will I style my hair? Am I going to have a date?

There’s a lot to consider. Except for the go-with-the-flow folks who slap on an outfit because what they’re really there for is the dance floor and free punch.

Some stress over the financials, or struggle to find an outfit in their size.

It’s the struggles Abby’s Closet has been working toward helping high schoolers find their perfect dress — with a twist — it’s all for free.

The two-day, annual prom dress giveaway is returning on April 5 and 6 at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 N.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

More than 7,000 dresses were donated, ranging from vintage to new, short and long, and sizes zero to at least 20.

“Abby’s Closet believes all high school students should be able to attend prom, an important rite of passage, without worrying about the cost,” Abby’s Closet wrote in the event listing. “Save your money for life after high school.”

Everyone is welcome regardless of gender identity, abilities, sizes or socioeconomic status. The mission is the make each person feel special, beautiful and confident.

For the tuxedo wearers, a coupon to Mr. Formal can be used from Abby’s Closet and donate $5 in return to the organization.

Registration for interested high schoolers is available online.
