Festival of Colors: First-ever Portland Holi Festival coming to Pioneer Square

- The Festival of Colors Holi celebration is coming to the center of downtown Portland on Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30, at Pioneer Courthouse Square.
All things colorful will flood Pioneer Courthouse Square this weekend for the first-ever Festival of Colors Holi celebration in downtown Portland.

On Saturday, March 29, and Sunday, March 30, DJ Prashant, in association with Dance United and local Desi community organizations are bringing this joyous Indian celebration to the center of the city.
“Holi has a way of bringing people together and breaking down barriers, come prepared to get colorful and make new friends in the process,” according to the event listing.
Bring the whole family to enjoy days full of dancing, colors, food, drinks and more. The event is focused on the celebration of spring, the joy of friendship and equality for all.

Here’s what to expect:
Both days are full of things to do from noon-5 p.m., with all ages welcome to come for the fun — it’s also free to attend.
Kicking off the color play portion of the event is a unified color throw, where colored powdered in pinks, blues, yellows and more, are thrown into the air.
The only costs associated with the event are to purchase color packets, or if someone decides to purchase their own food or drink.
Vendors, including Taste De Everest, Manam, Kulkarni Roti House and Mango Lassi, will have food, snack and drink options. Profits from Mango Lassi will go toward supporting Dance United.
Hourly performances will be from dancers, artists, starting with kids performances.
There are some guidelines to follow, check them out:
- The event states a zero tolerance policy for bigotry, racist remarks and general reckless behavior.
- Photos and videos captured of the event will be shared on social media platforms, and may be used to promote future events.
- Attendees may receive an email with party photos.
- No refunds.
Street parking is limited, so participants are recommended to carpool or use public transportation if possible.
