Oregon State gymnast Jade Carey’s highly-decorated collegiate gymnastics career wrapped up with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA championships Thursday, April 17 in Forth Worth, Texas.

Carey qualified for the all-around competition on the individual level and rotated with No. 1 LSU. Oregon State’s team effort ended in the regional round of the tournament, falling to No. 3 Florida, No. 6 Cal and No. 11 Alabama on April 6.

The two-time Olympic medalist got out to a hot start, finishing her first two rotations tied for first place in the all-around category. Carey posted scores of 9.9125 on the uneven bars and a 9.9500 on the balance beam with her two best events, floor and vault, yet to go.

Carey’s floor routine, which won her a Gold Medal at the 2020 Olympic Games, earned a score of 9.9125. The performance pushed the Beavers’ star into first place with only vault left to go and her Olympic teammate, UCLA’s Jordan Chiles, just factions of a point behind in the all-around standings.

Missteps by both Chiles and Carey in their final events saw both miss the championship’s individual podium.

Chiles posted a 9.8250 on beam, while a hop on Carey’s vault landing earned her a score of 9.8250, just .1125 short of the 9.9375 she needed to secure Oregon State’s first all-around national championship.

Carey finished with a final score of 39.6250.

Oklahoma’s Jordan Bowers was named the all-around national champion, posting a score of 39.715. Bowers was joined on the podium by second-place finisher Grace McCallum (39.6750) of Utah and Sooners teammate Faith Torrez (39.6375), who took third.

Carey finishes her Oregon State career as one of 13 collegiate gymnasts to have recorded a 10 in all four events and was the 2025 AAI Award winner, presented to the top senior female gymnast at the collegiate level.
