Four weeks after 20-year-old Marcelus Angelo Rodriguez went missing after going over Willamette Falls while kayaking April 12, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office believes it may have recovered his body.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a body along the shore of the Willamette River near Meldrum Bar Park in Gladstone around 1 p.m. Sunday, May 4.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, the medical examiner’s office responded to the scene and will work to determine the identity of the body.
Reports of Rodriguez’s disappearance after going over Willamette Falls late Saturday night, April 12 prompted a massive search from multiple agencies. In the weeks since, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office has continued to search the Willamette River for signs of the kayaker, finding several bodies in the river in the process.
Rodriguez was reportedly on vacation with his family in Oregon City, staying in a house boat near the falls when he went missing.
