Cirque du Soleil is coming to Portland with another terrific show.
In “Crystal,” May 29-June 1 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Cirque du Soleil explores the company’s most unique creative territory in its 40-year history.
From publicity: This unique production pushes boundaries of the circus arts by combining stunning skating and acrobatic feats that defy the imagination — acrobats and skaters perform on the ice and in the air, seamlessly combining multiple disciplines for a world class audience experience.
There are seven jaw-dropping traditional circus acts all thrillingly adapted for Cirque du Soleil’s first foray into a brand-new creative territory, the ice. It also includes trapeze, hand-to-hand, Banquine, aerial straps, hand-to-trapeze, juggling, and hand balancing.
Since 2017, “Crystal” has dazzled more than two million people in over 145 cities (including Portland) worldwide, blending the art of skating with adrenaline-inducing acrobatics and aerial feats. It uses larger-than-life visual projections on ice and a soundtrack that blends popular music with the signature sound of Cirque du Soleil.
It’s created by Shana Carroll and Sebastien Soldevila.
Portland performances are 7 p.m. Thursday-Friday, May 29-30; 11:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 31; 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday, June 1.
