A new tech hub has opened in East Multnomah County, bringing a suite of bright, shiny services and equipment to bolster local entrepreneurs.
The Rosewood Small Business Tech Hub, the latest Comcast “Lift Zone,” aims to make things easier for businesses across the region. The hub, located at The Rosewood Initiative, 14127 S.E. Stark St., was made possible thanks to an $80,000 investment from Comcast and the Mt. Hood Cable Regulatory Commission.
“The Rosewood Small Business Tech Hub is a powerful investment in advancing economic equity for East Portlanders,” said Portland City Council President Jamie Dunphy. “We have countless home-based businesses working hard behind the scenes, and many of them don’t have access to high-speed internet, professional equipment, or a dedicated workspace.”
“Resources like this Tech Hub will open doors and create opportunities for so many hardworking people in our community,” Councilor Dunphy added.
The Tech Hub, which had a soft opening on Thursday, Feb. 26, will have:
Workshops and Training: Skill-building opportunities focused on topics like digital marketing and social media for businesses, tech skills, product photography, bookkeeping and tax prep.
One-on-one Support: Matching entrepreneurs with a small business liaison from Prosper Portland.
Technology Access: Drop-in hours for small business owners to use high-speed internet, desktop and laptop computers, a photo studio with professional equipment, and business software.
“This tech hub will reduce technological barriers that too often prevent community members from pursuing their dream of starting and nurturing a business,” said Sabrina Wilson, executive Director of The Rosewood Initiative.
The Rosewood Initiative was founded in 2009. The organization offers a safe, healthy, vibrant space where neighbors can thrive. Learn more online: rosewoodinitiative.org
