Michelin-star chefs take over Portland restaurant for one night

One of Portland’s most celebrated restaurants is about to turn into a three-floor culinary takeover.
On April 3, James Beard Award–winning chef Gregory Gourdet and his acclaimed Haitian restaurant Kann will host chefs Junghyun “JP” Park and Ellia Park of New York City’s powerhouse restaurant group behind Atomix, Atoboy, and NARO.
The one-night collaboration, dubbed HanSang (한상), takes over Kann’s entire building with different experiences unfolding across three floors.
In Korean, han-sang refers to a full table — an abundant spread of dishes meant to arrive together and be shared. The theme reflects a deeper connection between Korean and Haitian food traditions: both shaped by resilience, resourcefulness and the belief that a full table means community and care.
For diners, that idea will play out through a series of unique events throughout the restaurant.
A BBQ reunion in the basement
Downstairs, Bryan Furman, whose barbecue residency is currently running beneath Kann, joins forces with Park for a high-energy BBQ collaboration inspired by American, Caribbean and Korean traditions.
Furman and Park share more than a love of fire and smoke. Both were named Food & Wine Best New Chefs in 2019, and the reunion brings together their distinct styles for a limited-run menu of collaborative BBQ mains and sides.
The pop-up runs Friday, April 3 through Sunday, April 5, and no reservations are required.
Korean comfort meets Haitian soul
Upstairs in Kann’s private dining room, chefs from NARO will team up with Gourdet’s kitchen for a family-style dinner experience built around shared plates.
The menu blends the warmth and comfort of NARO’s contemporary Korean cooking with the spirit of Kann, offering a communal dining experience centered around togetherness. Reservations are required for the seating.
The sold-out main event
Meanwhile, in Kann’s main dining room, Gourdet and Park will present the evening’s most ambitious collaboration: a multi-course tasting menu exploring the chefs’ shared culinary philosophy.
Both Kann and Atomix were featured on the inaugural North America’s 50 Best Restaurants list, and the tasting menu promises a dialogue between their distinct culinary languages.
Demand was swift — tickets for the experience sold out during presale.
For one weekend, the entire Kann building becomes a celebration of cultural exchange, collaboration and the universal joy of a full table.
