Letter to the editor

I have been a faculty member at PSU for over 40 years, during that time I have seen significant changes both at Portland State and in Portland.

PSU has transitioned from a largely commuter School to one that has become a critical resource for the economic and cultural vitality of Portland.

The connection between the vitality of central Portland and its university is strong. As a business faculty we benefit by having close access to the business community.

Having an economic and cultural critical mass located centrally is important and serves as a magnet to attract the best and brightest to our community.

Having an economic and cultural critical mass is central in my opinion for a successful community.

I wholly support having a cultural district adjacent to PSU that is anchored by a new performing arts center.
