Daniel Stevens

September 24, 1939 – January 31, 2025 – Daniel, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and teacher, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025.

A lifelong artist and educator, he inspired countless students during his 20 years teaching at Gresham High School. Known as the “Sandy Mountain Man”, Daniel was a fixture at the Sandy Mountain Festival for 50 years, creating & sharing his salt-glazed pottery. As a professional storyteller, he captivated audiences at local festivals and the Oregon County Fair, spinning tales and pottery with equal charm.

He is survived by his son, Shawn Stevens; daughter, Shelley Stevens; grandson, Devon Di Stefano; and brother, David Stevens. He was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Stevens. His legacy lives on in the art he created, lives he touched, and the stories he shared. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
