The victim in a downtown Portland assault has died two weeks after he was found unconscious following a fight.

Police say Patrick Bernard Pruitt Jr., 50, died Monday evening, July 26, at a hospital. Pruitt was first hospitalized after police found him knocked out and suffering “serious injures” near Southwest Broadway and Ankeny Street around 8:11 p.m. Thursday, July 15.

Police say his injuries were determined to be life-threatening at that time, and homicide detectives have been working the case ever since.

Police believe Pruitt was involved in a fight with another man who left the scene before authorities arrived.

Pruitt had been living on the streets of Portland in recent years, records show.
