The end of the 2024 college football regular season means the return of the sport’s free agency period, with the transfer portal set to open Monday, Dec. 9.

For Oregon State, the 2024 offseason saw the departure of a head coach and nearly every starter with remaining eligibility. But the offseason leading into the 2025 season will be a major opportunity for Beavers head coach Trent Bray and his staff to get their first full offseason together and pursue players in the portal.
The portal will be open for a total of 30 days, beginning Dec. 9 and closing Saturday, Dec. 28, with a second window in the spring. There is no date by which players must be committed to a new school and they are allowed to withdraw themselves at any time.

Transferring In
Tahjae Mullix, IDL, previous school: Western Carolina
The second addition of the transfer portal class for the Beavers was a second player in the trenches, adding Tahjae Mullix from FCS Western Carolina University. He announced his commitment via twitter Monday, Dec. 16 after being offered by the Beavers Wednesday, Dec. 11.
Mullix, a 6-foot-3, 270-pound interior defensive lineman, brings much-needed in-game experience the Beavers are desperate for. Oregon State will be the third school he’s played for collegiately, initially attending FCS Western Illinois as a freshman before transferring to Western Carolina.
In two seasons with the Catamounts, Mullix has played 22 games and recorded 49 total tackles, 1.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss. He was not rated by 247Sports as either a high school prospect or as a transfer. Mullix will have one year of eligibility remaining after appearing in four or more games in each of his first three seasons of college.
JT Hand, IOL, previous school: Arizona
Former Arizona offensive lineman JT Hand became the Beavers’ first addition of the portal cycle when he announced his commitment to Oregon State Wednesday, Dec. 12, via Twitter.
Hand did not appear in a game for Arizona in 2024 and played sparingly across the 2021, 2022 and 2023 seasons. He’s seen snaps at both guard positions, left tackle in games, while working at center in practices. Hand will likely fill one of the two guard spots for Oregon State, with left guard Joshua Gray and right guard Flavio Gonzalez both exhausting their eligibility.
Hand will have at least one year of eligibility remaining to play the 2025 season, being listed by Arizona as a redshirt junior for 2024. He could potentially receive a medical redshirt after not appearing in any games in 2024.
Keyon Cox, OT, previous school: Central Florida
Oregon State secured the commitment of offensive tackle Keyon Cox on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported.
Cox is a former three-star recruit who was rated as the No. 131 tackle and No. 63 player in the class of 2023. He’s appeared in just three games in two seasons with Central Florida, playing a total of 44 snaps at left tackle. Cox will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Maalik Murphy, QB, previous school: Duke, Texas
Oregon State got its quarterback, with former Texas and Duke signal caller Maalik Murphy committing to the Beavers, per Pete Thamel.
Murphy, a four-star recruit and the No. 9 quarterback nationally in the class of 2022, initially committed to Texas coming out of Junipero Serra High School in California, spending two years with the Longhorns and started two games as a redshirt freshman in 2023.
Murphy transferred to Duke for the 2024 season and started all 12 games and going 9-3 with the Blue Devils.
The six-foot-five, 230-pound quarterback has completed 59.8% of his passes for 3,410 yards and thrown 29 touchdowns to this point in his career. Murphy will have two years of eligibility remaining as a redshirt junior in 2025.
Transferring Out
DJ Wesolak, outside linebacker/edge rusher
Wesolak’s intention to transfer was first reported by Jake Hedberg of Beaver Blitz and later corroborated by various sources. Wesolak has yet to officially announce his transfer himself, but has been removed from Oregon State’s online roster and reposted various reports about his intention to do so on Twitter.
Wesolak came to Oregon State as a part of the 2024 transfer class from Missouri as a redshirt freshman. As a high school recruit, Wesolak was rated a four-star and the No. 26 edge rusher in the country.
As a Beaver, Wesolak played in just three games and accrued 24 total snaps. He’ll have three years of eligibility remaining.
Andre Jordan Jr., Cornerback
Jordan Jr. was first reported to be entering the transfer portal on the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 4, by Jake Hedberg of BeaverBlitz.
Jordan Jr. had a breakout season for Oregon State as a sophomore in 2024, leading all cornerbacks in snaps with 480. He recorded 27 total tackles, two tackles for loss and four pass break ups over the course of the season. Three of those PBUs all came against UNLV, earning his highest Pro Football Focus coverage grade with a 75.2.
Jordan Jr. will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Joel Valadez, WR
Oregon State wide receiver Joel Valadez announced his intention to enter the transfer portal via Twitter on Friday, Dec. 6.
Valadez, a redshirt junior, transferred to Oregon State in 2023 after two seasons at Division III Linfield University. Valadez was a two-year member of the program, but did not appear in any games.
He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining.
Gevani McCoy, QB
Oregon State quarterback Gevani McCoy announced he was entering the transfer portal Saturday, Dec. 7.
“Beaver Nation, after much thought and prayer, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal,” McCoy wrote in his social post. “This past year has been an incredible experience and I am beyond grateful for our coaches, my teammates, the staff and the amazing fans that showed out each week. I may be leaving, but Corvallis will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for everything!”
McCoy started nine games for Oregon State and played the majority of seven, being benched against Cal and Air Force. In his games, McCoy threw for 1,300 yards, three touchdowns and five interceptions. A duel threat, McCoy added 59 carries for 328 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.
McCoy will have one year of eligibility remaining wherever he ends up.
Luka Vincic, IOL
Interior offensive lineman Luka Vincic announced he would be entering the transfer portal Monday, Dec. 7, via Twitter.
Thank you to everyone at Oregon State who has made my time here special,” Vincic wrote in his post. “From Coaches, teammates, to the Beaver and Corvallis communities as a whole, I wish all of you the best. I have made the decision to enter the transfer portal.”
Vincic saw much action for the Beavers on the interior of the offensive line, starting at center against Oregon and UNLV. He also played reps at right guard and played a total of 315 snaps on offense. Vincic received a 58.9 grade from Pro Football Focus, with a 49.0 as a pass blocker and a 62 as a run blocker.
Vincic, who just finished his redshirt sophomore season, will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Dom Montiel, QB
Oregon State quarterback Dom Montiel announced his intention to enter the transfer portal Monday, Dec. 9.
I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal with 2 years of eligibility remaining,” Montiel wrote in his Twitter announcement. “I want to thank my coaches for the opportunity to compete at Oregon State and for my development as a player and person. To my teammates thank you for the lifelong brotherhood.”
Montiel has never appeared in a game during his three-year tenure at Oregon State as served as the fourth-string option behind Ben Gulbranson, Gevani McCoy and Gabarri Johnson. He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining.
Isaiah Chisom, ILB
Starting inside linebacker Isaiah Chisom announced his entrance to the transfer portal Friday, Dec. 13, via Twitter.
“Thank you Oregon State University and all the coaches, staff and teammates who have helped me along the way. I am forever grateful,” Chisom wrote in his post. “As my journey continues and I enter my name into the transfer portal, I wish nothing but the best for Oregon State football and Beaver Nation!”
Chisom started all 12 of the Beavers’ games at one of the two inside linebacker positions and played a total of 666 snaps in his redshirt freshman season. Chisom finished second on the team in total tackles with 75, including five for a loss and a forced fumble.
Chisom will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Melvin Jordan IV, ILB
Inside linebacker Melvin Jordan IV intends on entering the transfer portal, according to Jake Hedberg of BeaverBlitz.
Jordan IV was named a team captain for the 2024 season and started all 10 games he appeared in. The redshirt sophomore missed a pair of games, not being active against Air Force or Boise State. Jordan IV recorded a total of 45 tackles in 2024, including 2.5 tackles for loss and a broken up pass.
According to Pro Football Focus, Jordan IV was the highest graded player on Oregon State’s roster, earning a 77.0 grade for his defense.
He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining.
Rumors and Reports
Scheduled Visits
TJ Crandall, a 6-foot, 180-pound cornerback, is expected to visit Oregon State on Tuesday, Dec. 17, according to Kevin Cacabelos of SeaTown Sports.
Crandall is in the transfer portal for the second time in his college career. Hailing from Skyline High School in Sammamish, Washington, the redshirt sophomore originally attended Colorado State before transferring to West Virginia. He was rated as a three-star recruit in the class of 2022 and was considered the No. 136 cornerback in the nation according to 247Sports.
Crandall started one game for the Mountaineers in 2024 and played a total of 122 snaps. He was targeted a total of six times in the passing game, allowing five catches for 56 yards and recorded five total tackles. Crandall would have two years of eligibility remaining.
Jay’Vion Cole, a cornerback from Oakland, is scheduled to visit Oregon State between Dec. 14 and Dec. 16, according to Kevin Cacabelos.
Cole is in the transfer portal for the third time in his college career, starting off at FCS Cal Poly in 2022, playing for San Jose State in 2023 and Texas in 2024. He saw limited action for the Longhorns in 2024, but did record an interception. Cole has recorded 8 picks in his college career, with three for San Jose in 2023.
Cole would have one year of eligibility remaining, appearing in more than four games in each of the last three years.
