A shooting in Wilsonville’s Villebois neighborhood left two men dead on Monday, Nov. 25.

On Monday evening, Wilsonville Police Chief Robert Wurpes said that law enforcement responded to a 911 call with reports of gunshots fired. When police arrived they found two dead inside a home along Southwest Barber Street.

According to a press release from later Monday evening, the men found dead knew each other. Law enforcement originally responded to reports of a disturbance as well as gunshots shortly after 3:30 p.m. that day, and investigators are still determining what led to the disturbance. The men’s identities will not be released until family notifications are complete.

The release said there is no known danger to the public at this time.

Community member Justin More, who lives in a Villebois apartment, was on a walk with his wife when he heard gunshots around 3:40 p.m. on Monday afternoon. While he first thought the noise came from construction, he believes that it was gunshots because the noises occurred “in quick succession, and way louder than a nail gun sounds like,” and he heard emergency vehicle sirens quickly after.

More saw a woman in distress on the street corner at the time, and he said police arrived on the scene with weapons drawn. He and other witnesses then saw police escort a man from the house.

The investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement are seeking tips and information on the case, which can be submitted to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office by phone at 503-723-4949 or online.
