Portland’s Kitchen Kaboodle is launching its 50th anniversary celebrations with “Celebrating Food in Our Community,” a Hillsboro event designed to bring people together over shared food values and local initiatives.

The free event will take place 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at their Orenco Station location, 1415 N.E. 61st Ave., and will kick off a monthly series of Saturday gatherings focused on food-related themes with guest speakers and interactive demos.

November’s inaugural event will highlight the work of five local organizations dedicated to promoting sustainable food sourcing and access: Hillsboro Farmers’ Markets, which connects the community with local produce; Working Theory Farm, a youth-centered farm in South Hillsboro that grows food for families in need; Urban Gleaners, which rescues fresh food for food-insecure children and families in Multnomah and Washington counties; Oregon Farm to School and School Garden Network, supporting farm-to-school programs and garden-based learning; and Keep Growing Seeds, which offers culturally specific food and garden education in Beaverton and Hillsboro schools.

Partnering with Just Create Community, a Washington County social impact organization, this event series aims to foster community connections and support equitable access to healthy food.
