The popular Pickathon indie music festival takes place at Pendarvis Farm in Happy Valley, a beautiful and intimate outdoors setting.
To give people a glimpse at Pickathon, organizers have set up shows at … Portland State University, in the middle of Portland?
Yes, it’s called Lil Pickathon, and whereas it’s not among the trees and wildlife of the real Pickathon, it’s meant to bring the essence, mood and atmosphere of the cool festival to the people in the city.
The pop-up festival is being staged at PSU’s Karl Miller Center, on the ground floor, 615 S.W. Harrison St., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each weekday through May 29. On Fridays, noon to 1 p.m. starting May 16, there’ll be live performances from local artists, bringing raw talent and real music into the heart of Portland State. At the pop-up, there’ll be a curated selection of past festival treasures, including merchandise, CDs, vinyl records, posters, T-shirts, hoodies and hats. There’ll also be a photo booth.
“Each handpicked piece echoes past summers under the trees alongside good company and even better music,” publicity says.
The first musician performing is Hannah DiMo, noon Friday, May 16. DiMo, from Bakersfield, California, is a graduate from PSU’s Jazz Studies program, and she has won fans with her voice and lyrics, mixing pop, blues, folk, jazz and indie rock.
Her debut, acoustic folk-pop EP is “your Love, It Lies,” and her full band single is “Yes Means Yes.” Her latest collaboration piece is “Revel In,” where she leans into jazz roots.
Pickathon indie music festival at Pendarvis Farm in Happy Valley is scheduled for July 31-Aug. 3, and it will have a pretty big act on stage in 2025.
