February 18, 1947 – August 12, 2024 – Gregory Sipriano Valdez, 77, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024, in Bend, Oregon, surrounded by his family. Born in Modesto, California, Greg grew up in Spokane, Washington, and later attended Gonzaga University, earning a degree in Marketing.
In 1969, Greg married Mary Louise Flannigan, beginning 55 years of shared love and adventure. They settled in Tualatin, Oregon, where they raised their three children, Elena, Gregory II, and Maria. Greg had a long career with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2016.
A man of many talents, Greg loved classic cars, playing the piano by ear, and engaging in deep conversations. He was known for his sharp wit, philosophical musings, and spontaneous road trips with family.
Greg is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Elena Durham (Ronald) and Maria Valdez; son, Gregory Valdez II; grandson, Bailey Smith; sister, Cheryl Wilkinson; brothers, John Valdez (Cathy) and Charles Valdez (Patty); and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
A Celebration of Life will be held in September at the Oregon Coast. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Parkinson’s Foundation via his tribute page. Greg Valdez will be remembered for his kindness, intellect, humor, and deep love for his family and friends.
