A collective of more than 60 local independent bookstores presents the second annual Portland Book Week.
From June 6-15, participants can engage in a bookstore crawl, literary events, games, raffles, giveaways, discounts and exclusive merchandise.
Booklovers across the Portland-Vancouver region can celebrate their love of books and discover a new favorite spot to find their books.
“It’s all about seeing everyone come together,” Julie Wallace, of Wallace Books and the Cascade Booksellers Association, said in a press release. “We don’t get a lot of chances to celebrate with each other and seeing new faces makes it all the better.”
Prizes up for grabs include bookstore gift cards, literary event tickets and free merchandise.
Throughout the week, gold star literary events will bring readers into bookstores and community spaces across the city:
- Randy Rainbow at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall with Green Bean Books.
- The Devil’s Grin Book Release with Alex Graham at Floating World Comics.
- BANNED, a devised production about recently challenged books in Oregon presented by Hand2Mouth Theatre.
- Friday the Bookteenth Flash Fundraiser with Dreamhouse PDX and Parallel Worlds.
- The 19th Annual Rose City Book and Paper Fair.
