It took the No. 16-seeded Oregon softball team (48-7) just five innings to blow past Weber State (28-31), routing the Wildcats 8-0 in the Ducks’ first game of the Eugene regional.
A fifth-inning single by Ducks outfielder Kai Luschar drove in fellow outfielder Dezianna Patmon from third base, triggering the run-rule. Luschar’s RBI was the seventh run scored by Oregon in the final two innings of the abbreviated game, plating four in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Hitting from the leadoff spot, Luschar went 2-for-3 at the plate, swiped a bag and drew a walk. She, as well as her younger sister, Kedre Luschar (2-for-3, stolen base), and Patmon paced Oregon’s nine-hit day with two apiece.
While both of the Luschar sisters’ knocks were singles, Patmon delivered extra bases with both hits, hitting a two-run tank in the fourth and an RBI-double in the fifth as a part of Oregon’s rally to send the home crowd home early. Freshman first baseman Rylee McCoy’s first-inning solo blast got the Ducks on the board, while a fifth-inning double from fellow freshman Stefini Ma’ake rounded out Oregon’s four extra-base hits.
In the circle, junior right-hander Lyndsey Grein twirled a masterful five-inning complete game, punching out nine of the Wildcats’ 15 outs via strikeouts. Grein surrendered just three hits and a walk, but forced Weber State to strand all four. The All-Big Ten first-team selection tossed just 84 pitches en route to her 27th win of her 2025 campaign.
Weber State faces elimination in its loser’s bracket matchup against fourth-seeded Binghamton (36-13) at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 at Jane Sanders Stadium in Eugene.
The win by Oregon pushes the top-seeded Ducks to the winners’ bracket of the Eugene Regional, where they’ll face No. 2-seed Stanford (41-11) at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
