Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office investigating 12-year-old’s death

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a local 12-year-old boy who died from a gunshot wound. According to a May 19 statement from the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to reports that a child shot himself in a backyard on Southeast Glen Echo Avenue near Gladstone on Tuesday morning, May 13.
“When deputies arrived, they found a 12-year-old boy with a life-threatening gunshot wound in the backyard of the home,” the sheriff’s office stated. “The boy, who was still breathing, was quickly transported to a local trauma hospital, where he later died on Saturday, May 17th from his injuries.”
While the Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office determines the manner and cause of the boy’s death, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the incident.
