Attention to lots of natural light is priority for NW Natural Street of Dreams homes.

The 2023 NW Natural Street of Dreams is set for Sherwood — an outer Portland suburb often considered the gateway to Oregon’s wine country — as the Home Building Association of Greater Portland showcases its signature summer event.

From July 29 through Aug. 20, the event will highlight custom-built homes as well as tiny homes and coveted outdoor office spaces at Denali Summit in Sherwood.

It features beautiful homes constructed by JT Roth Construction, Teal Point Custom Homes and Mike Riddle, off of Sherwood’s Southwest Murdock Road.

NW Street of Dreams magazine, the official publication for the event, highlights attributes of Sherwood, noting that it has been named one of the top two safest cities in Oregon. It praises the walkable of the city’s Old Town area as well. That area is home to two notable local events — Cruisin’ Sherwood and the Robin Hood Festival — which draw thousands of people to the city of more than 20,000.

“I think it is wonderful that the homebuilders association chose Sherwood as the location for the Street of Dreams for 2023,” said Renee Brouse, Sherwood Chamber of Commerce chief executive officer.

Brouse, who also serves on the Sherwood City Council, added, “Sherwood is such a great town. It still has that small-town appeal but amenities that (a) larger city would have. It’s a great place for all due to the safety of our community and the wonderful schools.”

She added that as the chamber encourages businesses to locate in Sherwood, the 2023 NW Natural Street of Dreams becomes “another feather in our Robin Hood cap,” referring to the city’s popular annual Robin Hood Festival.

As JT Roth Construction, developer and builder of Denali Summit, prepared to build its home, the Theresa Ann, it took inspiration from the lifestyle of a family with teenagers. As such, the Theresa Ann features an outdoor living space that includes a kitchen and built-in grill. (There’s also a secret game door that’s accessible only through a hidden door.)

“Each home JT Roth builds is unique in its style and features. All of this has been passed down to and is modeled by his sons, who have watched their father (Tim) pour his heart and soul into his work,” Kenzie Roth, vice president of JT Roth, wrote in the 2023 NW Street of Dreams magazine, published by Pamplin Media Group.

Other homes, show highlights and builders this year include:

  • Lagom by Mike Riddle Construction. A Swedish term that literally means “not too much, not too little, the right amount,” Lagom features a large glass pivot entry door, a 16-foot disappearing Western Moving Glass Wall in the great room and an outdoor kitchen with a built-in barbecue and oven.
  • The Hawk’s View by Teal Point Custom Homes. A staircase surrounded by windows stretches from the main level to and third story, greeting those who step inside the home. A primary suite contains an extravagant bathroom and large walk-in shower made with top-of-the-line materials.
  • Tiny Homes by Tiny Heirloom. In-house engineers and designers display how they make fully customizable tiny homes that range from trailer types to architectural-style dwellings.
  • A remodeling demonstration and building science exhibit by JT Roth. Visitors are invited to ask the experts about remodeling and learn about energy efficiency and sustainability in new homes.
  • Tiny Home by Alto. Although small, the eco-conscious and energy-efficient home has premium and architectural features as well as unmatched quality, finishes and materials.
  • Free-Standing Office by Outdoor Office. For those who dream of having a separate backyard office, Outdoor Office has created a beautifully crafted custom dwelling.
  • The Shasta on Tour by Garrette Custom Homes. Located in Oregon City, this multi-generational home features a primary bedroom on the main floor as well as a formal dining room and spacious den. The multi-gen suite on the main floor includes a full-sized laundry room.
