January 12, 1937 – June 22, 2023 – Denny Todd, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, died June 22, 2023 at 86 years old.
Denny was born in Klamath Falls to Harry and Hazel Todd on January 12,1937. He attended Klamath Union High School where he excelled in academics and sports, playing varsity football, basketball and tennis. Denny earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering at Oregon State where he also a member of the ATO Fraternity, a member of the varsity tennis team and a member of Army ROTC program. After college Denny served as an officer for four years in the US Army Signal Corps in Europe. Being stationed in France during the Cuban Missile Crisis was stressful but playing tennis for the army and traveling through Europe for matches was not. After completing his military service, Denny earned his Juris Doctor degree from the the University of California, Berkley School of Law. He then relocated back to Oregon where practiced law and owned several businesses in Portland during his career.
Denny possessed several talents and varied interests. He was an Eagle Scout, painter, competitive tennis player, world traveler, prankster, storyteller, problem solver, mentor, lover of a good political discussion, and an avid American History reader. His masterful culinary skills resulted in exquisite French and Italian dishes shared regularly with friends and family. One of his greatest joys was teaching his grandkids how to make homemade ravioli and an authentic thin crust Sicilian pizza.
Most importantly, Denny surrounded himself with wonderful, long-held friends and a loving family. He met Nancy, the love of his life, in 8th grade and told her then that he was going to marry her. Married for 65 years, they raised their family in Lake Oswego. Denny is survived by Nancy Todd, Lisa Olson (Kevin Olson), David Todd (Shannon Todd); and grandchildren Kathryn Olson, Jake Olson, Drew Todd and Chris Todd. Nancy and Denny; alongside a legion of friends, joyfully attended hundreds of their kids’ and grandkids’ activities and sporting events.
A memorial service honoring Denny will be held at Christ Church Episcopal Parish in Lake Oswego on July 20, 2023 at 2:00 pm.
