Ingrid Hu Dahl to host free Portland events for new memoir

Ingrid Hu Dahl, a queer, mixed-race author, leadership coach, TEDx speaker and former touring rock musician with Rad Pony and the 303s, will host two free events in Portland featuring her newest memoir “Sun Shining on Morning Snow: A Memoir of Identity, Loss and Living Boldly.” Through conversations and reflections, Hu Dahl explores themes of identity, grief, legacy and belonging from the perspective of growing up queer, Chinese American and mixed-race in the U.S.

- When: Thursday, June 19, 6-7 p.m.
- Where: Broadway Books, 1714 N.E. Broadway, Portland
- What: A heartfelt conversation between Ingrid Hu Dahl and her cousin Diane Haines as they reflect on family, culture, and the shared experience of losing their mothers in Taiwan while living in the U.S. Together, they delve into mixed-race family dynamics and the intergenerational search for identity and home. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase signed copies of the book.
Co-Talk at Portland Chinatown Museum
- When: Friday, June 20, 3–4:30 p.m.
- Where: Portland Chinatown Museum, 127 N.W. Third Ave., Portland
- What: Hu Dahl presents a book talk and signing, joined by fellow author and poet Jennifer Perrine. Together, they discuss the themes of identity, bold living and cultural legacy featured in Hu Dahl’s memoir. Attendees will have the chance to hear readings, engage in conversation and purchase signed copies of the book.
