Runner hurt in collision with police car

One person was injured early Wednesday morning after being struck by a police car in downtown Portland.

The collision happened at about 1:58 a.m., April 3. Portland police said an officer was driving east on Southwest Harvey Milk Street near Broadway when a person apparently ran into the street and was struck by the patrol car. The person was being treated at a local hospital for what police said were serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The person’s name has not been released.

Witnesses told officers that the person was running with friends on a sidewalk and then ran into the street as the patrol car approached.
