DEQ offering new emissions testing option

Owners of 2005 and new motor vehicles no longer have to bring them into DEQ stations for emissions tests.

The new DEQ Too program allows owners to transmit test data from their vehicles to the agency using a telematics device that plugs into the vehicle. A number of car-related businesses are partnering with DEQ to provide the service, too, although they may charge a fee for it.

After the data has been transmitted, the owners can check if their vehicle passed on DEQ’s website. If it did, the registration can be renewed online, too.
