SLIDESHOW: Eclipse Hate PDX rally commemorates Charlottesville white supremacy victims

The march was held to commemorate the murder of Heather Heyer by white supremacists in Charlottesville, VA, and drew well over 1,000 people into the streets of downtown Portland.

Eclipse Hate PDX, a rally hosted by Portland’s Resistance, was held Friday night in downtown Portland to commemorate the victims of white supremacist violence in Charlottesville, VA, during a recent KKK event.

Friday’s event drew over 1,000 marchers into Portland streets, briefly blocking both the Hawthorne and Morrison bridges.

Law enforcement took a decidedly low-key approach to the event, leaving the march entirely alone. This proved successful, as event organizers were able to keep things under control. As a result, there were no reports of violence or property damage and no arrests.
