Special education resource fair also set for Monday

The public has an opportunity to meet the candidates running for the Beaverton School Board.

The district will host a School Board Candidate Forum on Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Beaverton High School cafeteria, 13000 S.W. Second St.

The forum will be moderated by Eric Schmidt, communications manager for the Association of Oregon Counties. Candidates will be given the opportunity to give an opening statement, answer questions from the moderator and give a closing statement.

This forum is open to the community.

Five School Board zones stand for election on the May 21 ballot. The candidates are: Zone 1, Jay Bengel and Susan Greenberg; Zone 2, Anne Bryan and Chip Wallace; Zone 4, Michael Richter and Donna Tyner; Zone 5, LeeAnn Larsen (incumbent); and Zone 6, Linda Degman (incumbent), Tom Colett and Huma Pierce.

Special education resource fair set for Monday at library

The Beaverton Special Education Parent Teacher Organization will host a resource fair on Monday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Beaverton City Library, Meeting Room A, 12375 S.W. Fifth St.

The resource fair will provide an opportunity for parents and caregivers to learn about special education programs and community groups that are available to help.

There will be representatives from Autism Society of Oregon, Beaverton City Library Youth Services, Beaverton School District Special Education, Camp Meadowood Springs (speech and hearing camp), Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Family and Community Together, Imagine Possibilities, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Oregon Branch of the International Dyslexia Association, RideWise and Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District Specialized Recreation.
