Detectives arrested Leo Renea Robles Jr., 35, of Aloha, on Monday night for allegedly assaulting and robbing the clerk at the Dotty's restaurant/bar at 20571 S.W. Tualatin Valley Highway last week.

Washington County Forensics Science Unit investigators, using what they called "convincing physical evidence" to connect Robles to the crime, including photos of him allegedly committing the crime and later that day attempting to cash in the lottery tickets at a Hillsboro WINCO store. He was unsuccessful cashing in the tickets because the serial numbers are reported stolen, said Sgt. Bob Ray, a sheriff's office spokesman.

The U.S. Marshals Office assisted the Washington County violent crime detectives to identify and track Robles to a business in Northwest Portland. Detectives took him into custody without incident.

Detectives are asking the public to look at the photos and call the Washington County Sheriff's Office with any information concerning the case.

Deputies were called on June 17 around 2:30 a.m. to Dotty's, concerning an assault and robbery. Multiple deputies responded to the area to render aid to the victim and search for the suspect.

Deputies learned there was one man who reportedly attacked the 32-year-old female clerk as she closed the establishment for the night.

Deputies were told the clerk went outside and was locking the front door behind her to close for the night when a man ran up and began striking her in the head with a solid object. The clerk said when she fell to the sidewalk, the man ran inside and stole an unspecified amount of lottery tickets and a small amount of cash, Ray said.

The clerk was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with significant head injuries. Deputies searched the area with a K-9 and handler with no success.

The man was described as having dark skin, in his 30s with a medium build. He was wearing a light colored shirt with a Nike logo on the front and a black colored warm-up pants with a white stripe down the leg. The suspect also wore a dark ball cap and had a surgical mask covering his face.

Robles was lodged in the Washington County Jail pending $250,000 bail. He faces charges of first-degree robbery and two counts of second-degree assault, Ray said.

Additional charges are likely to be filed as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call the sheriff's office at 503-846-2500.
