"The Lego Movie" to kick off four-movie series at Beaverton City Park

The city of Beaverton will kick off the Flicks by the Fountain series with a screening of "The Lego Movie" at Beaverton City Park, Southwest Fifth Street and Southwest Hall Boulevard, tonight at dusk.

To ensure the safety of pedestrians and provide a better viewing experience, Fifth Street between Hall Boulevard and Watson Avenue will be closed from 6-11 p.m. Westbound Fifth Street traffic will be diverted south onto Southwest Tucker Avenue and northbound Hall Boulevard traffic will be diverted eastbound at Southwest Fifth Street.

This year’s movie selections are:

• Aug. 1 – The Lego Movie (PG)

• Aug. 8 – Despicable Me 2 (PG)

• Aug. 15 – Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2(PG)

• Aug. 22 – Frozen (PG)

All movies begin at dusk. Movie-goers are welcome to bring their own food and drink. Smoking and alcohol consumption are prohibited. Low-back chairs and blankets are recommended.

Parking is available next to Beaverton City Library and in the parking lot where the Beaverton Farmers Market is held. Restroom facilities are located in the park.

To accommodate the inflatable screen on movie nights, the fountain at the Beaverton City Park will be turned off for the day. In case of inclement weather, movies will be cancelled.
