Traction devices requirement lifted on Cornell and Barnes; still in effect on 175th
As of Monday afternoon, traction devices no longer are required in the Washington County's snow zones on Barnes and Cornell roads. But traction devices are still required in the Southwest 175th Avenue snow zone.
Conditions improved significantly on both Barnes and Cornell, but portions of 175th Avenue remain slippery, according to the Washington County Department of Land Use and Transportation.
The traction-devices requirement could remain in effect in the 175th Avenue snow zone into Tuesday, Feb. 20.
While motorists no longer are required to have traction devices on tires when traveling in the Washington County snow zones on Barnes Road and Cornell Road, they are still required to carry chains or traction tires in vehicles in these areas.
The snow zones are marked with yellow signs. During winter months, the signs read "carry chains or traction tires;' when restrictions are in effect, the message changes to "chains required."
