Beaverton police shoot armed man after confrontation
Washington County's Major Crimes Team is investigating an officer-involved shooting Wednesday afternoon in Beaverton that injured one man.
Beaverton police said the armed man, who shot at officers, was being treated at a local hospital for unspecified wounds. His name has not been released.
According to police, the incident began at about 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, when Beaverton officers and members of the Washington County Tactical Negotiation Team and the Crisis Negotiation Unit were called to a disturbance involving an armed man near Southwest Farmington Road and Murray Boulevard, south of Valley Catholic Elementary, middle and high schools.
The schools were put into lockdown, and officers were sent to the schools.
Officers negotiated with the man for 2½ hours. At 1:47 p.m. the man shot at officers, who returned fire and wounded the man.
