Skyhawks girls hoop joins with seven top teams at the yearly tourney

BEAVERTON — Eight top-notch girls high school basketball teams from Oregon, Washington, and Idaho will face off in this year’s Northwest Invitational tournament at Southridge High School starting today (Thursday).

Tournament play opens today and continues through Saturday, with all games being played at Southridge High School, 9625 S.W. 125th Ave. in Beaverton.

Established by the Southridge girls basketball program, the NW Invitational has become a premier annual event that brings together highly talented teams from across the western U.S. It is an opportunity for fans and younger players in particular to experience first-hand high school girls basketball played at the highest level.

In addition to Southridge, the participating Oregon teams are Central Catholic, Westview, Lincoln, South Medford and Lebanon. Idaho is represented by Couer d’Alene High School.

Game times today and Friday are 3:30 p.m., 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Start times on Saturday are 2 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Westview opens the tournament against Lebanon at 3:30 p.m. today. With a win there, the Wildats would play again at 5 p.m. Friday; with a loss, Westview would play again at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

The Skyhawks open the tournament against Lincoln at 8 p.m. tonight. With a win there, Southridge would play again at 8 p.m. Friday; with a loss, the Skyhawks would play again at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
