Construction has begun on a new Auto Zone store on Highway 99E near Panda Express

HERALD PHOTO: KRISTEN WOHLERS - Auto Zone is leasing the property next to Panda Express from owner Ray Lovell and will be building a 7,345 square foot building.

Canby's vacant land near Panda Express is taking shape as of late and will soon be occupied by a brand new Auto Zone store.

"It's all approved and they're starting construction," said Canby's Associate Planner Dave Epling. "Everything is going forward."

Auto Zone is leasing the space from property owner Ray Lovell. They will be taking over a 36,011 square-foot portion of the parcel and constructing a 7,345 square-foot commercial building, according to Epling.

The new auto parts store will be the third of its type on Canby's stretch of Highway 99E, the others being Napa Auto Parts and O'Reilly Auto Parts.

"It looks like a real good project," Epling said, "and I think they'll do well there in my opinion."
