But West Linn drained a desperation 3-pointer at the end of regulation to force overtime, and the Cougars were unable to bounce back in a 69-58 loss at home Jan. 31.

Canby (13-5, 2-2 in the Three Rivers League) entered the pivotal matchup with wins in four of its previous five games but fell to fourth place in the conference standings behind Oregon City, Clackamas and the Lions (14-3, 3-1).

Senior guard Bailey Raines scored a team-high 15 points and senior forward Rachel Erbe added 14 for the Cougars, who were slated to face the Cavaliers on the road at 6 p.m. Feb. 4.

Senior guard Ashley Evans converted a go-ahead 3-pointer with less than six seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, but West Linn’s Sidney Kolasinski answered with a game-tying three on a shot from the right wing that referees determined left her hand before the buzzer.

Canby was outscored 13-2 in the extra period.

The Lions were led by Ashley Johnson (19 points), Genna Hughes (16) and Morgan Haskin (13).

For the Cougars, the loss came three days after they obliterated Lakeridge 84-30 at home. They overwhelmed the Pacers with their defensive pressure, leading 26-2 at the end of the first quarter and holding a 45-10 edge at halftime.

Raines had 16 points as one of five Canby players in double figures. Evans and Skylee Doman each added 12, while Morgan Meisenheimer and Taylor Jorgensen contributed 10 apiece.
