Bradford Mathews crashes Land Rover into power pole at Smith Rock State Park and is arrested

A Prineville man was arrested after crashing his vehicle in the parking lot of Smith Rock State Park Friday evening.

According to Deschutes County authorities, around 6:50 p.m., 26-year-old Bradford Mathews lost control of his 2006 Land Rover, going off the roadway and striking the power pole and breaking it in half. Matthews was uninjured and needed no medical treatment.

Pacific Power came out to the scene to repair the down power lines in the roadway. The roadway was reopened after approximately two hours.

Matthews was arrested for driving under the influence, reckless driving and driving while suspended. He was lodged in the Deschutes County Jail.

The case is still under investigation.
