East County resident Duane 'Dewey' Hoffmeister, 75, died Sunday, July 16, in Portland. A casual celebration of life gathering will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at his home.

Duane was born Jan. 21, 1931, in Portland to Edwin and Helen Hoffmeister. He was raised and educated in Portland, where he graduated from Franklin High School in 1949. He continued his education at Oregon State University.

He moved to East County in the early 1950s.

In 1952, Duane married Mae Brasesco in Portland. She preceded him in death in 1973. In 1974, he married Katy Williams in Portland. She preceded him in death in 1998. Duane married Linda Hansen in 2004 in Portland.

Duane worked in construction and real estate. He was a Reynolds School District board member and president of the Dad's Booster Club.

Survivors include his wife of Portland; sons, Mark Hoffmeister of Bend, Jay Hoffmeister of Gresham and Kevin Hoffmeister of Troutdale; daughter, Jill Morris of Portland; step-daughter, Tracy Hansen of Portland; step-son, Ryan Hansen of Portland; and four grandchildren.
