The Junior League Western Regional baseball tournament, which was held in Forest Grove the past two years, has been moved to the Howard M. Terpenning Complex in Beaverton.
The Western Regional Tournament annually showcases the top 13-14 year old baseball teams from Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona, Nevada, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Alaska and Hawaii. The winner of the tournament advances to the Junior League World Series in Taylor, Mich.
The Western Regional first came to Forest Grove in 2004 and was wildly successful last year, but issues stemming from housing the players at Pacific University caused District 4 (Oregon) Little League to move the tournament to Beaverton this summer.
For a detailed account of the tournament leaving Forest Grove, see the story 'Wild Pitch' on page 1A.
Junior League is a division of Little League International, which sponsors and organizes World Series tournaments for four different age levels in both baseball and softball.
