The Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce's recent Candidate Forum has led to endorsements of city council candidates being issued by the chamber's board of directors.

The forum was hosted by the chamber's Government Affairs Committee last Thursday at the Oswego Lake Country Club.

Rob LeChevallier of the law firm Buckley LeChevallier moderated the event.

Attending the forum were state Senate candidates Richard Devlin and David Newell (Mark Delphine did not respond to the chamber invitation); state Representative candidates Greg McPherson and Fred Bremner; Clackamas County Commissioner candidates Lynn Peterson and Larry Sowa (David Dodds had a prior commitment) and the five candidates running for the three open seats on the Lake Oswego City Council.

Questions asked were formulated by the Government Affairs Committee, chaired by Karen Jacobson of Ivey, Jacobson and Stone, and the chamber board of directors. Each candidate had the opportunity of an opening statement and the opportunity of answering a prepared question focusing on business issues.

The event was taped for rebroadcast on local cable by Tualatin Valley Cable Television.

The Government Affairs Committee had also held an earlier informal meeting with the five city council candidates. Based on the two meetings, the committee recommended to the chamber board the endorsing of three of the five council candidates:. JT Tenneson, Donna Jordan and Roger Hennigan. The board then voted to approve the recommendations to endorse these three.
