Sandy man fires at Longview-area deputy
- Sandy Post - News
A Wahkiakum County sheriff's deputy stopped a pickup on State Route 4 around 8:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, for an 'equipment violation," according to the Longview Daily News.
Although investigators are still trying to piece together what happened, the truck's driver, Thomas W. Fischer, 18, of Sandy reportedly 'became uncooperative' and started shooting, the sheriff's office said. The deputy returned fire.
Somehow, after a brief vehicle chase, officers were able to arrest Fischer without injury.
Fischer was being held on suspicion of first-degree assault, eluding a police officer and driving with a suspended license. More charges are pending.
The investigation of the incident continues.
