Making energy efficient changes in your home may not be as expensive as many home owners think. Forest Grove Light and Power (FGL and P) offers rebates on windows, insulation, appliances and heat pumps for those local homes that are currently heated using electricity.
Customers of FGL and P may receive a free home energy audit and list of recommended energy efficiency improvements, as well as additional information on energy efficient appliances and do-it-yourself weatherization.
For appliance rebates on water heaters, dishwashers, refrigerators or other appliances, home owners must supply an invoice to verify brand and model within one year of the purchase date.
'The rebates really vary,' said Garrett Harris, energy program coordinator. 'I'm still trying to figure out how to present it in a flyer.'
The amounts are best explained in a phone call or visit by FGL and P.
FGL and P buys its power from the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), a not-for-profit federal agency that sells wholesale power in the Pacific Northwest. The rebates available in Forest Grove are funded through both the city and BPA programs.
