Information from the public safety column comes from the records of the Lake Oswego Police Department. Police recently filed reports on the following incidents:
7/28/11 7:37 a.m. A driver was injured by a deployed airbag in a collision on Pacific Highway and had to be taken to Kaiser Sunnyside. The other driver was cited for careless driving and failure to avoid a stopped vehicle.
7/29/11 9:23 a.m. A driver tried to leave the scene of an accident on Centerpointe Drive, but he returned after being tracked down by a witness.
7/30/11 5:05 p.m. A hit-and-run accident on Boones Ferry Road resulted in almost $300 in damage to a black Lexus.
7/25/11 11:53 p.m. A garage door opener was taken from an unlocked vehicle on Davis Lane. The garage was opened but nothing was stolen.
7/26/11 3:30 p.m. Two unlocked cars on Edenberry Court were entered and ransacked, with garage door openers and other miscellaneous items being taken.
7/27/11 5:44 a.m. A toolbox and blue Maglite were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Coho Lane. Loss was set at $50.
7/27/11 4:03 p.m. A thief sneaking into a storage area on Greenridge Drive has taken artwork, art supplies, books and clothing worth approximately $8,000.
7/28/11 2:59 p.m. A concrete pig worth $100 was taken from a patio on Hildalgo.
7/29/11 11:12 a.m. A $250 Garmin GPS was taken from an unlocked vehicle on Fern Place.
7/30/11 10:58 a.m. A speed mountain bike valued at $2,000 was stolen on Westview Drive.
7/30/11 2:58 p.m. Two vehicles on Terrace Driver were entered. Objects stolen included new sunglasses from Nordstrom's, jewelry and cash.
7/30/11 4:29 p.m. A house key was taken from an unlocked car on Walking Woods Drive.
7/27/11 6:28 p.m. A house on Park Road was entered and ransacked.
7/30/11 4:24 p.m. A garage on Bayberry Road was entered and robbed of a Titus bicycle valued at $3,500.
7/25/11 7:22 a.m. Graffiti with the words 'Let's Play A Game' was painted on the windows of Uplands Elementary School over the weekend. It caused $100 in damage.
7/25/11 9:32 a.m. All four tires were flattened on a Ford Mustang parked on Jefferson Parkway.
7/25/11 2:09 p.m. A house on Ridge Lake Drive was paintballed last week.
7/25/11 3:25 p.m. A 14-year-old runaway juvenile was found and then entered into LEDS/NCIC.
7/25/11 4:24 p.m. Two skateboarders are ignoring a 'No Skateboards' sign at Lakewood Bay and are continuing to skateboard.
7/25/11 4:35 p.m. A possibly drunken woman crashed her bicycle on S. State Street and was transported to Meridian Park. She may be getting arrested, too.
7/25/11 5:36 p.m. A son showed up at a home on North Shore Road, although his presence there is not desired. A formal trespass order was offered as an option.
7/25/11 6:32 p.m. A 13-year-old girl threatened to hurt herself.
7/25/11 11:10 p.m. A 47-year-old female on Ash Street is yelling and trashing her neighbor's front yard. Her formal trespassing complaint is imminent.
7/26/11 8:18 a.m. A citizen complained that police are never around to catch all the speeders on Cellini Court and Da Vinci.
7/26/11 5:08 p.m. Juveniles are throwing rocks at a TV dish on Lake Bay Court.
7/26/11 5:44 p.m. Twelve juveniles have set up a skateboard ramp at Rivergrove Elementary School.
7/26/11 6:27 p.m. Four teens in a Jetta were cruising down Boones Ferry Road and throwing bottles out of the window.
7/26/11 6:39 p.m. A 15-year-old boy used a chain with a lock on it to assault staff members at a youth facility. The youth will be charged with three counts of menacing, criminal mischief, theft and theft by receiving.
7/26/11 6:56 a.m. A woman with a history of illegally using Dumpsters has returned to illegally dump on Galen Street.
7/27/11 9:28 a.m. At Westridge Elementary School, a purse with a large rose on it was found to contain marijuana and a marijuana pipe.
7/27/11 2:36 p.m. A man heard a crash at his home on Foothills Road and looked outside to see that a truck has smashed into his car. He chased down the truck driver to exchange information, but he also wants the police to look into this.
7/27/11 3:17 p.m. A 12 year old has been conversing with strangers on the Internet.
7/27/11 4 p.m. An ex-girlfriend was warned about harassment because she keeps sending emails to her ex-boyfriend.
7/27/11 7:41 p.m. Cat mutilation is feared after a cat's head and paw were found on a school's grounds. Another theory is that the cat was eaten by a large predator that only left the parts it could not digest.
7/28/11 1:05 p.m. A man in a white Infiniti is trying to lure women to follow him on Fourth Street.
7/28/11 6:44 p.m. A woman feared a scam attempt when she was approached by a well-dressed man in a Mercedes who became aggressive and untruthful.
7/29/11 11:17 a.m. The back window was smashed out of a Toyota parked on First Street, causing $1,800 in damage.
7/29/11 1:41 p.m. A berserk squirrel was running around in circles in the middle of an intersection on Erikson Street, thus creating a dangerous traffic situation due to motorists seeking to avoid hitting the unfortunate pest.
7/29/11 1:54 p.m. A mother embarrassed the heck out of her son by showing up at his place of employment and throwing a tantrum. Attempts to persuade her leave were to no avail.
7/29/11 4:43 p.m. A dispute with a friend has made a man fear the 'friend' will show up and damage his property.
7/30/11 12:14 a.m. A drunken female passenger was unable to pay her cab fare because she had no money.
7/30/11 12:56 a.m. A growling dog managed to scare away a burglar on Lords Lane.
7/31/11 12:14 a.m. Nine young people were cited for disturbing the peace at a loud party on Westward Ho Road. In addition, medical assistance had to be provided for a female who passed out.
7/31/11 6:15 a.m. A window was smashed out on a gold Mercedes parked at a hotel on Meadows Road.
7/31/11 1:28 p.m. A customer with a history of theft and harassing employees was trespassing at a coffee shop on Boones Ferry Road. Fortunately, he did not appear to be intoxicated, impaired or carrying a weapon. The 38-year-old man has been removed from a number of area locations.
7/31/11 3:33 p.m. Obscene comments and pictures were scratched into a woman's front door on Foothills Drive.
7/31/11 5:09 p.m. A woman showed up very drunk at an apartment pool on Greenridge Drive.
7/31/11 6:39 p.m. An ex-boss is refusing to return the belongings of an ex-employee.
7/25/11 12:01 p.m. A man's driver's license was used to open a checking account.
7/25/11 3:22 p.m. A woman's credit card was used twice last week.
7/26/11 4:08 p.m. A 29-year-old woman with a history of passing bad checks was reported at Thriftway. Officers took her to Clackamas County Jail on suspicion of first-degree theft and first-degree forgery.
7/27/11 11:39 a.m. Someone tried to obtain a Toyota by forging a fraudulent check that was written on a man's account.
7/29/11 9:42 a.m. Several counterfeit $20 bills were passed at a Safeway.
