Holiday Light Parade in Forest Grove draws, oohs, ahhs and ho-ho-hos
by: Chase Allgood of the NewsTimes, Gift-wrapped students from Dilley Elementary School – and their parents – joined dozens of other entries in last Wednesday’s Holiday Light Parade in downtown Forest Grove. Despite near-freezing temperatures, hundreds of spectators lined the streets to take in the action.

'I've been waiting years for this!' said Beth Buehler as the Forest Grove Chamber of Commerce float headed out of the staging area and onto Main Street Forest Grove last Wednesday as part of the city's first-ever Holiday Light Parade. Like many people who grew up in Forest Grove, Buehler has fond memories of the Gay '90s Parade that was discontinued when she was a teenager. A new generation of parade-lovers packed the streets and sidewalks as three-dozen illuminated entries, from equestrian teams to school groups, wound their way through a moonlit downtown. Parade organizers said it was such a hit that they plan to make it an annual event. Sources in the North Pole tell the News-Times that St. Nick had a great time and has vowed to come back next year.
