Boy seriously injured in Rocky Butte fall
- Portland Tribune - News
A 16-year-old boy suffered serious injures Monday night when he fell about 80 feet on the east side of Rocky Butte.
The boy was taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center for what firefighters called life-threatening injuries. His name and medical condition have not been released.
Portland Fire and Rescue crews were called at about 10:15 p.m., Aug. 15, to Rocky Butte State Park near Northeast 92nd Avenue and Skidmore Street. They found the boy unconscious at the bottom of a cliff.
Paul Corah, Portland Fire and Rescue public information officer, said the fall was the third serious incident at the butte this year. One person was killed and two others injured in those incidents, he said.
'This area is extremely dangerous and citizens are urged to use caution when visiting Rocky Butte,' Corah said.
