A man injured his hand during a garage fire in Southeast Portland early Thursday morning.

Portland Fire and Rescue said the 55-year-old man was treated for moderate injuries to his hand and smoke inhalation after the fire that destroyed a garage and burned a nearby tree on Southeast Harold Street. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The fire was reported at about 5:46 a.m., Aug. 25. Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting 12 to 15 feet in the air above a garage. The fire jumped to a tree near the structure.

It took just a few minutes to extinguish the flames.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire. There's no estimate on the amount of damages to the building.
