Lions Barbecue and Family Fun Day at Oral Hull - Noon to 4 p.m., Oral Hull Park, 43233 S.E. Oral Hull Road, Sandy. Enjoy a barbecue chicken dinner, live music, carnival booths, face painting, a cakewalk, raffles, swimming and a tour of the gardens. Tickets are $10 general admission and $5 for ages 12 and younger. Kathy Mozena Memorial Garden Tour - Noon to 4 p.m., 30815 E. Woodard Road, Troutdale. Stroll through Kathy Mozena's lovely gardens at the former Lost Acres Dahlia Farm. Kathy's husband, Jim, and many friends have prepared her gardens as a final memorial. Kathy died in July from pulmonary fibrosis, enjoying her gardens from the window of her cottage home. Open to the public.

Oregon Labor Rights Week: Women in the Workplace - Noon, Plaza del Sol, 18709 S.E. Stark St. This is an educational event put on by the Consulate of Mexico. There will be about 14 information booths along with music and dancing. For more information, contact Cesar Cortez at 503-274-1442, ext. 18.

Plant Explorations at Blue Lake Park - 1 to 5 p.m., Blue Lake Regional Park, 20500 N.E. Marine Drive, Fairview. Learn how seeds travel, stems sprout, plants grow, or how flowers make fruit in a beautiful children's garden. Enjoy fun activities such as potato printing, bookmark making, flower origami and leaf rubbings. Suitable for ages 3 and up; adult supervision is required. Child Safety Training - 3 p.m., Rockwood Grange, 18303 S.E. Stark St. Cares Northwest and the Center for Family Success are hosting a free educational workshop about the safety and well being of children. Physicians, nurses and counselors will present information on shaken baby syndrome/abusive head trauma, the effects of domestic violence on children and drug and alcohol effects on babies.
