by: DAVID F. ASHTON - The Carroll Rauum Swing Orchestra entertains the crowd with standards from the 'Swing Era's'More than a hundred neighbors living near nonprofit Westmoreland Union Manor came over for a party, held by Manor residents on the evening of August 3rd.

While neighbors dined on hot dogs, salads, and desserts, the music of the 18-piece Carroll Rauum Swing Orchestra filled the summer evening air.

“This annual party is our opportunity to invite people of the community,” said Syndy Taylor, Civic Club President, and co-chair of the Entertainment Committee. “Actually, many of the people from the neighborhood have moved here over the years.”

Food and Decorations Committee Chair Judy Hayworth told THE BEE that she enjoys planning events, and then “seeing everyone come and enjoy themselves.”

As the band played, volunteers urged guests to take “seconds”, and to fully enjoy the hospitality the Manor residents were providing that evening.
