Local parents are invited to check out the benefits of an independent school education at a round of open houses starting Wednesday, Oct. 3.

The first organized Independent School Open House is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Multnomah County Central Library, 801 S.W. 10th Ave.

Later events are scheduled for Dec. 3 at the Beaverton City Library, and Jan. 10 at the Hillsboro Library.

The schools — which are neither public nor private — come with tuition and admissions policies but also offer financial aid.

School leaders will be on hand to answer questions. Schools represented include: Northwest Academy, Portland Jewish Academy, Oregon Episcopal School, Catlin Gabel, Franciscan Montessori Earth School, and French American International School.
