At the request of the White House, HemCon Inc. of Tigard sent five of its revolutionary hemorrhage-control bandages to President Bush for his personal medical kit, said Jim Hensel, the company's president and chief executive officer.

In the midst of shipping the innovative bandages to the Army last week, Hensel said, he received an 'out of the blue' call from the White House asking for bandages for the nation's commander in chief.
